Search St. Bernard Parish Recent Arrests

St. Bernard Parish recent arrests show up through a few official channels. The live jail roster lists who is in custody right now. Sheriff news posts and local newspapers cover selected incidents later. Mugshots stay off the public roster. Getting a photo usually means a focused records request. Someone arrested in St. Bernard Parish could be released, moved, or end up in court files next.

St. Bernard Parish Recent Arrests

The main source is the St. Bernard Parish Jail Roster, the official list of people held at the parish prison. Treat it as a custody snapshot. It is not a same-day arrest log, and a person booked in St. Bernard Parish appears only once intake data reaches the table. No delay figure is published. Anyone released before you look may simply roll off with no archived row left behind.

Search the Parish Arrest Roster

Open the roster and check the timestamp first. Use Show All or an alphabet filter, then compare full name and date of birth before trusting a match. Follow the LAVNS icon only after that check. The VINELink Custody Check walks through registration and its limits. The Sheriff Office's official LA app offers safety news, tips, and crime reporting. Its store listing promises no jail search or mugshot feature. A missing row is not the last word, since intake can lag, a released person may have rolled off, and state, federal, immigration, or juvenile custody runs on separate systems. When the live view falls short, Criminal Records & Reports points to the right request.

Start with the timestamp on the St. Bernard Parish arrest roster. That tells you how current the list is. From there, use Show All or the alphabet filter to scan names, then check the full name and date of birth before trusting a match. When the details line up, the LAVNS icon is the next stop, and the VINELink Custody Check walks through registration and its limits. The sheriff's own Louisiana app pushes safety news, tips, and crime reporting. Its store listing makes no promise of a jail search or booking photos.

A missing name is not the last word. Intake can still be processing, a released person may have already rolled off, and state, federal, immigration, or juvenile custody runs on separate systems. Criminal Records & Reports points to the right request whenever the live roster comes up short.

Note: Save the roster update time because current custody can change after the screen is viewed.

Where Parish Arrest Records Appear

The St. Bernard News archive runs on a weekly or near-weekly cycle, using labels like Chalmette, Meraux, and Arabi. Commercial parish pages stay unofficial. Verify any identity, charge, date, status, or image against the records custodian and the court.

No incorporated municipalities exist in St. Bernard Parish. These location pages borrow the three largest census-designated places without calling them legal cities. SBSO patrols the whole parish. Everyone held locally is booked through St. Bernard Parish Prison. A place label may mark a residence or an incident spot. It does not create a city jail. Nor does it show where a person sits now.

Recent Arrests by Community

St. Bernard Parish contains no incorporated municipalities at all. Its location pages therefore use the three largest census-designated places, without pretending they are legal cities. SBSO patrols the whole parish, and anyone held locally is booked through St. Bernard Parish Prison.

A place label can mark a residence or an incident spot. It does not create a city jail or show where a person is actually held.

When Parish Arrests Reach the Roster

Louisiana Code of Criminal Procedure article 228 sets the rule for booking. The arrested person goes promptly to a jail or station. There, staff log identity, address, and property. They also record the date, the time, and a short summary of the arrest. St. Bernard Parish posts a public timestamp on its vendor roster. It appears once the data has been processed. No statute promises a fixed number of minutes, though, and SBSO makes no such promise either. So a same-day check should start with the freshest roster timestamp. Then call Corrections at (504) 278-7645 or Criminal Records & Reports at (504) 278-7726. A missing row can mean a delay. It can also mean a release, custody in another parish, a citation issued without booking, or protected information. It cannot safely mean no arrest occurred in St. Bernard Parish.

St. Bernard Parish Booking Records

A booking record runs wider than the roster row. Article 228 asks for the person's name and address. It also covers any property taken. The booking date, the time, and a summary round out the list. That summary holds the legal name if known. It lists the charges, the arresting officer, a brief account of events, and others arrested in the same incident. The booking book and its summaries stay open for public inspection in St. Bernard Parish, with sensitive facts shielded where the law requires.

R.S. 44:3 sorts the wider investigative file into layers. Booking records and the initial complaint report are public. Pending investigative work, confidential sources, certain victim identities, juvenile information, and security facts may be protected. Ask for each named layer rather than everything.

Booking
Intake and record entry after arrest.
Bond
A court-set condition that may permit release.
Arraignment
The stage when a charge is presented and a plea taken.
Disposition
The later case result.
Expungement
Removal of a qualifying record from public access without destruction.

Parish Mugshots After an Arrest

The official St. Bernard Parish roster shows no booking photo. That does not mean SBSO never takes one. The sheriff may hold the image and release it on request, though redaction, fees, and current policy all apply. LAVNS/VINE covers custody status and alerts only. Mugshots are simply not part of that service.

Private sites fill the gap. Busted Newspaper, RecentlyBooked, and the old Mugshots.com parish section may all display photos. None of them is a government custodian, so a picture there proves nothing about current custody or any warrant. Check the name, date, source record, and court result before drawing any conclusion.

For state custody, turn to the DPS&C inmate information page instead. Its locator refreshes every 24 hours. It will not cover fresh parish bookings. DOC Victim Services does offer a current photo, but only to eligible registered victims near a projected release date, not as a public gallery.

Request a Parish Arrest Record

SBSO offers no dedicated booking-photo form. Walk in or call Criminal Records & Reports. The counter sits at 2 Courthouse Square, Chalmette, LA 70043, phone (504) 278-7726. Public Information sits at the same address and takes calls at (504) 278-7614. Office hours run Monday through Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with holidays excluded.

  1. Give full legal name and date of birth when known.
  2. Give the date, approximate time, agency, and booking number if known.
  3. Name the booking entry, article 228 summary, initial report, photograph, or release record.
  4. Ask for electronic delivery, a cost quote, and segregable public parts.
  5. Request a written statutory reason for each redaction or denial.

The SBSO fee schedule sets the costs. Copies run $1 per page. An incident report costs $25 for the first five pages, then $1 for each added page, and a photo, video, or audio disc costs $10. Booking photos have no line item of their own, so ask for a quote; processing happens on business days during regular hours.

Louisiana Arrest and Mugshot Law

Article 228 sets out the booking-entry and public-inspection rules in codified form.

Louisiana Legislature article 228 booking-record page

Article 234 targets publishers that charge to take down a booking photo. Bring qualifying proof, such as acquittal, non-prosecution, expungement, vacatur, or pardon. Removal and destruction must then happen within seven calendar days, with no fee. That duty does not erase every government record at release.

Start with SBSO for government data. Article 971 makes expungement close qualifying records to the public without destroying them. Busted Newspaper and RecentlyBooked both have free removal policies you can document. Never pay just to pull a qualifying image. Fix the source record first, since a search engine's outdated-content request comes second.

R.S. 44:36 governs preservation. Records stay as long as law or an approved schedule requires. A three-year default applies where no specific term exists. SBSO posts no fixed retention term for a web roster or photo. Ask the office about the record series. Then check the Clerk, newspaper archives, and State Archives.

Parish Arrest Warrants and Wanted Notices

SBSO publishes no public warrant search and no current most-wanted list. Its warrant tag carries selected press releases. One February 2026 item separated a single booked person from four people named in issued arrest warrants.

For a specific case, call Criminal Records at (504) 278-7726. You can also reach out to the Clerk, the court, or a lawyer. Never approach someone named in a notice. Tips can go to SBSO communications at (504) 271-2501. CIB takes tips at (504) 271-TIPS. Crime Stoppers GNO can be reached at (504) 822-1111 when the notice directs it.

After a St. Bernard Arrest

The 34th Judicial District Court handles parish criminal matters. Its DA Magistrate Court and Bond Settings page posts dated, court-adjacent cards. Those cards can fill in bond and court fields the free roster leaves blank. They are not a final disposition. The Clerk eSearch adds paid criminal access that may show filings, minutes, and dispositions.

St. Bernard Clerk criminal eSearch account screen

Court research stands apart from the free roster, so confirm current prices with the Clerk.

Follow the case to disposition. Booking charges can be amended, declined, dismissed, or resolved differently from their intake wording.

Parish Arrest Cases in Court

Booking is only the start of the paper trail. The Clerk's account system creates a real access split after arrest. Daily access runs $20 per category, whether criminal, civil, or land. Monthly criminal access costs $40. Combined plans carry other prices, and annual fees vary by category and package. Printed criminal images or minutes list at $1 each. These are portal prices, not sheriff record charges. The Clerk can confirm them since terms change.

The Clerk sits at 1101 West St. Bernard Highway, P.O. Box 1746, Chalmette, LA 70044, phone 504-271-3434. The District Attorney keeps separate Magistrate Court, bond-setting, and docket pages. So a roster match should be traced across both layers. The DA side may show a first appearance or bond setting. The Clerk's indexed file may hold pleadings, minute entries, and the final disposition. Neither source replaces the other.

The sequence runs arrest, booking record, current roster, first appearance or bond decision. Then comes the filed court matter, and finally the disposition. Release can come before the case ends. A person may also stay in custody after charges change. Custody and case outcome are related, but they are not the same fact.

Parish Arrest Alerts and Sheriff News

St. Bernard Parish Sheriff LA app and LA VINE do different jobs. SBSO publishes the app for crime reports, tips, public-safety news, and agency contact. Nothing in its listing promises a searchable jail roster. The same goes for booking photos. There is no arrest-log archive either. Think of it as an official channel for announcements, not a promise that each booking triggers a notice.

LA VINE handles custody. The parish roster still carries the older LAVNS label and row icons, while state pages say LAVINE or LA VINE. All of those names point to the same Louisiana victim-notification network. The service spans adults in parish jails and state prisons, and it supports custody queries plus release or transfer alerts. Signing up is free and anonymous. Speed and completeness are not guaranteed, though.

The old branding can make a roster link seem unrelated to the state service. Follow the official row link first. Confirm the identity, then note the facility and status shown. A fresh arrest may not reach VINE yet. In that case, go back to the parish roster or call the records line. The sheriff newsletter and news posts highlight selected events, never every person admitted to the jail.

Limits on Parish Arrest Disclosure

A name on the adult roster does not open every connected record. R.S. 44:3 shields confidential sources. Facts tied to pending litigation or investigation stay closed. So do undercover methods, security details, and certain victim identities. Juvenile data sits outside the adult parish-jail layer that LA VINE covers. A custodian can release the public booking layer. Another layer of the same file can stay redacted.

That line explains most gaps people hit. A roster entry may show a name with no charges. The booking summary may be open while follow-up interviews stay withheld. A public initial report may leave out a protected victim's identity. Someone cited without a booking never enters the roster. Juvenile custody stays out of the adult system too. Never fill these gaps with guesswork or an unverified commercial profile.

A response may come back partial. Ask the custodian to name the statute behind each redaction. Also ask the office to release any separable public part. Keep the request narrow. A full name, date, event, agency, and exact record type speed the search. The office then finds the right file fast. When you need the court result, take that question to the Clerk. The roster was never built to answer it.

Custody Beyond Parish Arrests

A transfer to DPS&C moves a person off the parish roster and into the state locator. That tool may list the facility and a projected release date. The phone fallback is 225-383-4580. State data will not close a same-day parish gap.

The BOP locator covers federal inmates from 1982 forward and refreshes daily, but it shows no public booking photos. The ICE locator takes an A-number and country of birth, or exact biographical data, and generally tracks current custody plus some releases within 60 days. Juveniles are left out. U.S. Marshals policy typically withholds prisoner photos and histories. Pick the system that matches the custody, and the search stays simple.
